The Falkland Islands use 240V, 50Hz electricity with the standard UK three-pin Type G plug. If your charger already accepts 100–240V input, as many modern phone and laptop chargers do, you normally need only a Type G plug adapter. If an appliance is not rated for 240V, a simple plug adapter is not enough.

Check the input label before travel
Look at the charger or power brick. If it says something similar to “Input 100–240V, 50/60Hz,” it is designed for the Falklands supply and you only need the physical plug adapter. Do not assume this for hair dryers, styling tools or older appliances; check each device individually.
Type G adapter versus universal adapter
A dedicated Type G adapter is small and simple if the Falklands or UK are your only Type G destinations. A reputable universal adapter is more useful on a longer South America–Falklands itinerary where plug standards change between countries. Choose a model with appropriate electrical certification and power ratings for the devices you intend to connect.
Charging camera gear
Wildlife photographers often need several battery chargers. A compact multi-port USB charger that accepts 100–240V can reduce the number of adapters required, provided your batteries can be charged over USB. For proprietary camera chargers, check the charger label separately.
Remote stays
Ask remote accommodation providers about socket availability and any local power limitations if you travel with many devices. A power bank is useful for long wildlife days, but airline carriage rules apply to lithium batteries, so keep current airline requirements in mind.
