The Falkland Islands use 240V, 50Hz electricity with UK-style Type G three-pin sockets. If your plug is not Type G, you need a compatible plug adapter. An adapter changes the plug shape; it does not convert voltage.
Check every charger before plugging it in
Look at the input label. Many modern phone, laptop and camera chargers accept a wide input such as 100–240V, making them suitable for Falklands voltage with only the correct plug adapter. A device marked only for a lower voltage may require an appropriate converter or should not be used.

For expedition cruises
Ship sockets vary, so check your operator’s vessel-specific information. Some cruise lines restrict extension leads and multi-socket devices, especially those with surge protection.

Adapter versus converter
A Type G adapter only changes the physical plug. Check the tiny input label on every charger: devices marked for roughly 100–240V input can normally accept Falklands 240V supply through the correct adapter, while single-voltage equipment may need proper conversion. Hair appliances deserve particular attention. Never assume a universal travel adapter automatically converts voltage.
