Three to four hours is enough for central Stanley; five to six hours allows a relaxed museum-and-town day; seven or more hours gives you more flexibility for nearby wildlife. Volunteer Point is different: it is effectively a major full-day excursion and should not be squeezed into a short call.
3–4 hours
Stay central: cathedral, Whalebone Arch, waterfront and either a focused museum visit or food/shopping. Keep the tender buffer generous.
5–6 hours
Give the Historic Dockyard Museum meaningful time, walk central Stanley, have lunch and browse local shops. Depending on transport and ship timing, nearby Gypsy Cove may be possible.
7+ hours
A longer call opens more excursion choices, but road and off-road travel can still consume substantial time. Choose one major wildlife experience rather than stacking distant sites.

Match your plan to usable hours ashore
With only a few usable hours, concentrate on central Stanley or one nearby wildlife outing. A longer call can support a major excursion such as Volunteer Point, but only when transport and tender timing leave a safe margin. Do not combine two distant excursions just because each fits individually on paper; Falklands road conditions, off-road travel and weather make buffers valuable.
