South Georgia permit cost changed in 2026
South Georgia’s government set the visitor permit application fee at £250 per person from 1 July 2026, rising in later years. Cruise operators or agents may apply on passengers’ behalf, so check whether this is included in your quoted fare rather than adding it twice.
Do not forget insurance and travel to embarkation
Expedition operators commonly impose specific medical evacuation and insurance requirements. Also budget for reaching the embarkation city, accommodation buffers, cold-weather clothing and any equipment not supplied by the ship.
